Fairy Unchained : The power of the Elves
Welcome to this new appointment with the spoilers of the latest expansion of Grimm Cluster “Millennia of Ages”, which narrates the first battle between the forces of good and the abhorrent Chtulhus. Among the protagonists of this battle there were the Elves as well as one of the Six Sages.
Fiethsing the Elvish Oracle, is a resonator with balanced stats if compared to the cost of 4 will. The Quickcast ability and her 1000 DEF make her a decent unexpected blocker for the opponent. The Enter and the Continuous are functional for the activation of a more interesting effect: removing a knowledge counter from her will let us cancel a target spell unless its controller pays an additional will. We recall the word “spell” refers to both types, normal and summoning. To sum It up: with 4 will we'll instantly have both a resonator and a counter.
The second character we're presenting is the resonator version of one of the CMF Rulers:
Christie, the Warden of Sanctuary shows ATK and DEF values slightly under average for the cost of 2 will. Her first effect is to make our other elves untargetable from our opponent's spells and abilities (Fina is the first name that comes to our mind). The second one allows us to rest five elves to gain 500 life points and draw two cards. It will not be easy to use this effect, anyway we don't exclude the possibility of seeing, in the next meta, decks based on this race that will be able to fully make the most of Christie.
The third Elf we are going to introduce is Melfee, the Successor of Sacred Wind.
A 400/400 at the cost of two that allows us to rest two elves to produce a will of any attribute. The appeareance is not that of a card that could impact the meta in a decisive way, however it could bring some surprises when used in a deck that makes of the heavy presence of elf resonators on the field its main weapon.
The new Spell: Chant, Wind of Gods is a whole lot more interesting, let's see how:
At the low cost of one Wind will we'll force our opponent to put back on the top of his deck one of his fire or darkness resonators. With just one move we take out of the field a problem (Mephisto, Blazer, Gilles, ecc), we cancel our opponent's draw (that will be forced to take back in his hand the resonator he just played) and, moreover, we'll force him to play that same resonator once again, with the risk of having it countered as soon as he enters the field.
The last card we present today is Bastet, the Elder God
What is a Chtulhu doing in the Wind attribute along with Fiethsing, Christie and the other elves? As we can read from the flavor text, not all the beings from the outer world are evil and Bastet is just one of those . Although she is a resonator at cost 2, she can interact with our opponent's graveyard: gaining +100/+100 for every card in it. It is a further piece of the Chtulhus' mechanics ,although it's unlikely that we'll see her on tournaments decklists often.
This concludes our installment with Fairy Unchained. We'll be waiting for you with the next previews of “Millennia of Ages”.
Bye!
