Shangri-La and the Queen of fhe Seas
Welcome back to a new episode with Rise of The Ruler, this time dedicated to the Water Attribute and the princess of sea trading, Valentina.
Valentina, the Princess of Love presents herself like the other Seven Kings, with an ability at the cost of two specific Wills that allows us to put a Resonator with cost two or less from our hand to the field. This ability can be interesting to summon an unexpected blocker and can be used more than one time each turn, even if we called a magic stone since we don't need to exhaust our Ruler.
Paying two Water Wills Valentina can do Judgement becoming the Ruler of Paradise, a J-Ruler with printed stats lower than what we're used to. However, in addition to Call a Magic Stone when we do Judgement, Valentina can't take damage on our turn and will gain a bonus of +100/+100 for every card in our hand.
Like all the Seven Kings, Valentina has a God's Art, an ability with a specific name that can be used only once for game, that at the cost of four wills allows us to take control of a target Resonator for the whole game!
Gleipnir, the Red Binding of Fate is Valentina's Regalia and it's inspired to the eastern legend of the red thread of fate, according to which every person has since birth an invisible red thread tied to the pinkie of his left hand that links to his soulmate and predestines him to meet it. Like all Regalias, even Gleipnir costs zero Wills and as long as it's on board our J-Ruler will have the ability to make us draw a card every time she deals damage to an opponent or to a J-Ruler.
The Activate ability of Gleipnir, reconnecting to the legend, forces the opponent to block with a Target Resonator or J-Ruler and, if we control Valentina as a Ruler or J-Ruler, we could also recover the target of this ability, preventing our opponent from blocking with another Resonator.
For finishing, discarding a second copy of Gleipnir from our hand we can draw a card.
Shangri-La, the Paradise on the Ocean, is an [Addition:Field] that represents Valentina's homeland. In addition to granting a bonus of +100/+100 to all Water Resonators we control, the enter of this Addition makes us draw a card. Shangri-La grants and addition bonus of +100/+100 if we have five or more cards in our hand.
Coupled with the drawing and full hand mechanics tipical of the Water Attribute if this series, the Squire of the Ocean Lord is a really good Resonator. With her cost of two Wills and his stats of 400/400, the strength of this maid is that of making us draw a card when she enters the field, ability that we could use more than one time on New Frontier thanks to cards like Djinn, the Spirit of Lamp.
Foresee is a [Spell:Chant] really simple. At the low cost of two Water Wills, she allows us to draw two cards, making pure and simple card advantage. Foresee is a really synergic card both with Valentina as a J-Ruler and with Shangri-La. The only downside of this card is not beeing a [Spell:Chant Instant].
Alice's Little Scout is a resonator that can find a spot in every deck based on Valentina. Indeed this little soldier is a perfect suicide blocker that can be played on the opponent's turn thantks to Valentina's Activate and that will grant us an addition card upon his death.
For last we have the [Spell:Chant] Charm of the Princess that, while not being directly tied to the drawing mechanic, ties with Valentina thanks to her God's Art. Charm of the Princess allows us to take control of a target resonator with cost X till the end of the game. We have to remember that if the Resonator us bounced back to hand or is successfully targeted by cards like Dream of Juliet it will go back to his rightfull owner.
With this we have finished for today. See you in the next episode of Rise of The Ruler with Games Guardians!
