Rise of the Ruler: ''Am I my brother's keeper?''
Welcome back with our usual appointment with “Rise of the Ruler”: after having seen Light Will line up Abel and the sacred book of Genesis, we are here today to analyze their counterpart linked to Fire Will
The Apostle of Creation is a Ruler having only the J-Activate ability that we will be able to benefit of at the low cost of one Fire Will, which leads us to think it will be an ability that will be best utilized in the early rounds of the match.
And here at last make his appearance Cain, The traitor of Gods. His stats ( 700/700 ) doesn't make him an insurmountable foe alone, the real problems are his abilities, starting with the Symbol Ability First Strike that will make him able to battle through almost all creatures of the first rounds without any problems.
Let's now go to talk about his Continouos abilities.
The first one makes us know about that he's a J-Ruler that comes to the field of battle to fight. Being able to put a magic stone on field without resting and at the same time not being able to call a magic stone are clear signals that Cain will need to attack every turn ot express his maximum potential.
The second one is an attack bonus for all Cognate race creatures, that makes us foresee a strategy based on winning the match in a few rounds.
His Active ability, at last, makes First Strike a real deadly weapons that all will have to be aware of. Effective in the early rounds, it will became stronger as the match continues where we'll be able to damage a blocking resonator a lot stronger than our J-Ruler before finishing him off with our First Strike damage ensuring our J-Ruler lives through combat.
And now comes the Cognates: Resonators with a low will cost ( 1 or 2 ), whose effects will trigger during their attack and only if our J-Ruler has attacked this turn. You can see that their abilities are really synergic and they are all geared to increase the damage inflicted by inhibiting or eliminating potential blocking opposing resonators to quickly end the match.
We have extensively discussed after the foretaste of the gunner image in this expansion, so now here is another ADDITION RESONATOR/J-RULER. Cain will be able to attain a considerable bonus to his stats and end up being a lot more efficient when attacking, provided the player that controls him has less life points than the opponent. Apparently this strategy doesn't seem to be synergic at all with a deck that aims to do the most damage in as few rounds as possible, however, a couple of cards come in our help that allows us to lower our life points while also obtaining some advantage that could be crucial for the match.
It seems Cain and his Cognates really hates opposing resonators, enough to make them fight each other in order to mutually kill them, leaving your opponent with an open field allowing us to attack for game in the shortest time possible.
For now that’s everything with Cain and the Book of Genesis, till next time!!!
P.S. Welcome to Domenico Stragliotto and Matt Kozmor as supervisors of the english version!!!
